Two Childhood Memories

Every day when I think about myself, I think about my childhood and I wish to go back there just for one day. That was a period of my life when there were no big problems, but, unfortunately, there is no way I could go back there physically. Today people draw conclusions about each other on the basis of appearances, physical beauty and material possessions. However, when I was a child, it did not exist. My friends and I lived for going outside early in the morning, playing all day and enjoying every moment till late in the evening. The greatest pain was when we hurt our knees. Back then, we did not know that that was nothing in comparison to the problems we cope with today, such as disappointment, losing people we love very much, making ends meet, etc.

I have one beautiful memory. One day my friends and I were collecting stones of different sizes and shapes. We painted them and put some spangles and sequins on them. Then we wrote a message on every stone. When we finished that, we put stones in a box, went to the end of the street and sold them. The price of each stone was as small as the price of a lollipop today. People bought them just to see smiles on our faces. But the rocks were not just our childhood ‘memorabilia’, on the contrary, they had messages. For example, ‘Love people around you,’ could be read on one stone. That message is so beautiful and I think that every person in this world needs a stone like that with such a message to be read every day.

Another adventure I remember was when my friends and I went into my neighbour’s garden across the street and stole corns. While we were putting corns in the bags, our neighbour came by and started yelling at us. We panicked and started to run screaming. However, those corns were the best corns I had ever eaten. That afternoon our neighbour invited all children from the street to grill corns at his house. But the corns we had already eaten were even tastier, I must say.

If only I could go back into the past, into my childhood when modern technology did not exist. But that is impossible. Therefore, I invest effort to enjoy in every moment of my life, stay and be positive and find something funny in every situation to create best memories.
